American
Christian Academy (ACA),
a K-12 day school, is one of the schools in Nigeria that caters primarily for the needs of the expatriate community residing in
the historic city of Ibadan, Nigeria. ACA Ibadan is centrally located on
seven acres of prime property, within five minutes walking distance from
downtown. The campus is adjacent to the Ibadan golf course, and flanked on
the other sides by the Recreation Club, and the Olympic size Adamasingba
Stadium.
The
main school building, accommodating the first through third grades, as well
as the administration offices and a school store, is reminiscent of the colonial
period of the late 50's. Characterized by high ceilings, wooden floors,
lots of French windows, and a large verandah, The “Junior School” sits on a beautiful lawn adorned by large Nim trees. A spacious twin duplex, houses the Pre School on one arm and
the 4 th - 7 th grades on the other. The Pre School consists of five
classrooms, an indoor and outdoor play area, library, television room,
music room, and a courtyard complete with garden and fountain.
In
addition to the 4 th - 7 th grade classrooms, a conference room, art room,
staff room, computer lab and science lab are domiciled in the other half of
the duplex, commonly called the “Middle
School”. Here, the courtyard, garden and fountain, doubles
as a picnic area where the children gather during break and lunch times. The Senior School building is home to the large school
library, cafeteria, pool room, as well as the 8 th – 12 th grades. Adjacent
to the Senior School is a residence hall for accommodating teachers, as
well as the School Nurse.
